H2O: The Molecule That Made Us — Episode 2: Civilizations

Wednesday, October 20, 2021 @ 7PM (EDT)
Screened online
Alex Tate (2018, U.S., 55 min.) + post-film discussion

Water is life–it’s as simple as that. Except it’s far from simple. Actually the interconnections of our global water system–between oceans, skies, land, and life–are incredibly complex, both shaping and being reshaped by life. In this three-part documentary series, NPR’s Kelly McEvers explores our complex relationship to water, both biological, cultural, and political. Along the way, she journeys with scientists around the globe to make sense of the changing state of our water systems and the challenges facing infrastructure, planners, farmers, and all of us as climate change and increasing human demand affects our relationships to water. Following each screening, we will be hosting a panel discussion of Penn State water faculty, global water experts, and local Pennsylvania leaders working on various aspects of the nexus between water and society.
